What we do.

Our Mission

African Community Economic Development of New England’s mission is to partner with families to help African refugees and immigrants in Boston develop a self-sufficient and vital community by providing our youth with the education and life experience to thrive socially, professionally, and economically.

Executive Summary

ACEDONE strategic planning for the year 2018-2023 is mission-centered based on a resilient community that has fostered trust through long-standing commitments to current and emerging needs rooted in cultural and language ties. This strategic plan aims to strengthen ACEDONE financially and organizationally; build and enhance successes with existing programming and improve the system and procedural support to ensure long-term community impact.

Over the past three years, ACEDONE has engaged its stakeholders and has been involved in multiple planned activities that comprehensively identify and assess our current organization and community needs while examining external factors impacting our work.  The external environment has been quickly changing, providing the backdrop for us to examine our programs and consistency in meeting current and emerging community needs. The ACEDONE vision for the next 3-5 years is dedicated to ensuring that new immigrants and arriving refugee families have the support they need to successfully acclimate and thrive in their new home country. This is challenging work and requires a targeted approach, especially in a post-COVID-19 environment.

Our Approach

ACEDONE has a robust community-based approach to leadership development in young adults, academic enrichment, small business development, housing, job training, and career counseling; however, diversified inclusion and sustainable collaborations will ensure continued progress in bolstering community resilience and equity.

ACEDONE has made strides by utilizing a transitional pipeline of community engagement and fostering midstream to upstream collaborations with Boston Public Schools i.e. Office of English Language Learners and Boston After School & Beyond, Cambridge College, ACCION International,  Boston College, Tufts Fletcher School of Diplomacy, UMass Gaston Institute, Center Support for Immigrant and organizing partners for this effort.
